Meet Yoga Teacher Lauren Mueller

What kind of classes do you teach?

I teach yoga at Zenver in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver. Thursdays at 5:30 p.m., I lead an hour-long, all-levels "zenergy flow" vinyasa yoga class. I offer many modifications to ensure that those who are new to yoga feel encouraged and those looking for a challenge have the option to take it to their edge.

Where were you raised and where do you currently live? Age, if ok.

I was raised in Milwaukee, Wis. but moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I moved to Denver in December of 2017, where I now live. I'm 30 years old.

What motivates you to get up in the morning?

My pug Bruce who needs to be let out to go potty! But more seriously, I'm at a point in life where I feel as though I have much to look forward to. It hasn't always been this way and it has taken a lot of self-reflection to find this contentment, but my loved ones, my career and my hobbies (hiking, skiing, yoga, barre, planning travel) all motivate me to get up in the morning.

Is there a book you’re reading right now?

Yes! My yoga studio Zenver just began a book club - and we chose our first book last week. So, I'm reading Polishing the Mirror: How to Live from Your Spiritual Heart by spiritualist Ram Dass.

If you could only do two workouts a week, what would it be?

Vinyasa yoga. While there are many other workouts I love, especially Pure Barre, I find that when I don't practice yoga due to a busy schedule or vacation, my mind feels a lot less settled and I'm a lot less pleasant to be around!

Is there a teacher that you love learning from?

Oh so many to choose from! The most inspirational teachers I've had the pleasure of learning from are Siobhan Troy-Carranza and Nicole Griffin (now in SF) of my D.C. yoga studio, Andrea Marcum and Emilie Perz of Los Angeles, Trish Washburn of Oconomowoc, Wis. and now Ali Bullano and Katy Bauschke of Zenver.

What is your favorite way to spend a day outdoors?

I love to ski! It's a major part of the reason why my husband and I moved to Denver in 2017\. It's been my goal this winter to comfortably ski any black diamond run and tree ski. If I'm skiing from first chair to the afternoon (with a necessary beer and lunch in between), I am one very happy lady.

Are there any charities you support?

I haven't yet found a charity in Denver to support, but it's on my ever-growing list of to-dos!

Where can we find you teaching classes?

I teach an hour-long, all-levels "zenergy flow" vinyasa class on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at Zenver in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver.

Last, what is in your gym bag?

Oh boy, lots of nonsense - but the noteworthy items include a collagen protein bar (currently from Primal Kitchen), whatever book I'm choosing a passage from to open my yoga class with (currently Heart Talk by Cleo Wade), a Hydro Flask from Left Hand Brewing (one of my favorite breweries), a small towel, a pen,  a journal and chapstick.
