Meet Kourtney McCullough
What kind of classes do you teach?
I’m certified in both traditional Pilates and also Megaformer Pilates or the “Lagree Method”. After years of teaching the methods separately, I’ve combined what I think is the best of both styles to create my own hybrid workout with a huge emphasis in anatomy, biomechanics and functional movement/ injury prevention.
Where were you raised and where do you currently live? Age, if ok.
I was raised in Newport Beach, CA and now live on the west side of LA in Brentwood. I’m 28 years old.
What motivates you to get up in the morning?
Coffee ;) And also the fact that there’s nothing better than getting to do what you love every day and call it “work”.
Is there a book you’re reading right now?
I listen to a lot of books on tape and podcasts while I’m commuting around town. In the rotation currently are “The Lean Start Up”, anything by Brene Brown, and I’m obsessed with the podcast “How I Built This” all about how entrepreneurs got their start.
If you could only do two workouts a week, what would it be?
My own Pilates workout and I’m a former dancer, so some sort of dance class, either ballet or hip hop. Although, I also love a quick jump rope sesh for cardio if I can’t get to a dance class.
Is there a teacher that you love learning from?
I take a lot of continuing education courses, from Pilates instructors to physical therapists to other nutritionists etc. You have to keep learning about the body to stay relevant for your clients and also to stay inspired.
What is your favorite way to spend a day outdoors?
I’m a cali girl at heart; give me a beach and a skinny margarita and I’m good to go :)
Are there any charities you support?
I support Heifer International- it’s a global non profit working to eradicate poverty through sustainable holistic community development.
Where can we find you teaching classes?
I teach my class at Pilates Platinum in Brentwood on Monday’s Wednesday’s and Friday’s at Noon.
Last, what is in your gym bag?
Swell water bottle, pair of toe socks, yoga tune up balls, and my Thera Gun :)
